AZHC Web Page Review
Webmaster Ted Tenny asked for comments as he went through the
Arizona Trailblazers web site. Some members have joined our club
after first finding it on the Web. One suggestion was to list the
trip reports chronologically as well as by name.
-
Backup Webmaster
Presently only one person can update the Arizona Trailblazers web site.
The club needs a backup person, just in case.
Andy Ellarby graciously agreed to serve as backup Webmaster. Ted will
provide him with a CDROM of all the web page files and notes on
maintaining them.
-
Next Meeting

Executive Committee, May 30, 2007
Arizona Trailblazers Hiking Club
Meeting Minutes
Executive Committee, May 30, 6:30 PM
Applebee’s Restaurant, Mesa
Members present:
Jenni Jacobs, Debbie M., Michael Humphrey, Ted Tenny.
- Hike Leader Training
-
The club has some experienced and capable members who could lead
hikes. They should be contacted individually.
The Sierra Club sends an experienced hike leader to accompany a
first time hike leader. We could do likewise. Let’s have an
awesome hike in the fall which will include Hike Leader Training.
Debbie agreed to lead a Deer Creek Trail hike in the Mazatzals
in October for that purpose.
Action Item [Debbie]:
Schedule the Deer Creek Trail hike.
- Summer Outings
-
Too many open dates in the calendar! The club once had a monthly
newsletter, which could be revived and sent as an email to promote
our activities.
Action Item [Jenni]:
Send Ted a copy of the newsletter with some
suggested topics for a new issue.
A pool party would be good in the summer!
Action Item [Debbie]:
Contact club members who might want to host a party.
- Guest Speakers
-
Suggestions included the ranger who led the
Tonto National Monument
tour, and the leader of the
Virtual Hiking
web site.
Action Item [all]:
Find a guest speaker for an upcoming club meeting.
- Term Limits of AZHC Officers
-
Any change to the wording would require another election. Our
consensus was that the recently-passed amendment is sufficient.
- Response to NPS Proposal
-
The proposed gates at abandoned mine entrances seemed O.K.
Action Item [Michael]:
Send the National Park Service our response.
- Finding a Backup Webmaster
-
Send a notice in our first monthly newsletter. The club needs
someone handy with HTML who could step in.
Action Item [Ted]:
Write up an announcement for the newsletter.

our club would make it through the summer!
|
-
Reports
- Treasurer — Michael Humphrey
-
There isn’t enough money in the club’s account to
pay the insurance for a year in advance. If we get that much
(about $1100) by September, the insurance would cost less than
the current monthly payments.
- Webmaster — Ted Tenny
-
The club should have a backup Webmaster, someone who is handy
with HTML and can keep the web site up to date. Beth Baumert is
the current backup.
