where Upper Lake Mary SE of Flagstaff
the kayak     This will be the Arizona Trailblazers second kayak to the Lake Marys. Upper Lake Mary is a long, narrow reservoir about 5 miles long from end to end and almost 600 surface acres in size when full. This lake was formed from an earthen dam, built in 1941, on Walnut Creek. Upper Lake Mary is one of the very few lakes in Arizona that’s regularly stocked with northern pike and walleye.
Starting from Narrows Boat Launch near the middle of the lake, we’ll head left and explore the SE section of this narrow lake. We’ll paddle to the southeast as far as people want to go, before doubling back to the launch ramp, getting out somewhere along the way for a rest and lunch break.
Starting from the narrows allows paddling a figure-8 with halfway point for lunch being picnic area near our cars, available if weather turns unfavorable. After kayaking join me at a restaurant in Flagstaff if desire, before driving back to the valley.
