Arizona Trailblazers Hiking Club
National Horse Rescue Ride/Walk
Goldfield Ghost Town
October 18, 2008

On Oct. 18, 2008 the Arizona Trailblazers hiking club will be collaborating with the Apache Junction Horse Rescue Corporation (AJHR), a non-profit organization which rescues, rehabilitates, and arranges adoption of unwanted, abused, or neglected horses. AJHR will be hosting a charity event to raise funds for their organization. The National Horse Rescue Ride/Walk celebration will be at Goldfield Ghost town just east of Apache Junction. All proceeds will directly benefit the horses. Those who wish to participant in this fund raising event have two options: Departing at 8:30 a.m., from the Mammoth Saloon, they may either hike the trail or ride a horse in the opposite direction. The hike will take about three hours and is rated "C" [easy]. Upon return to the Saloon, there will be food, live country music, a silent auction, a raffle, and T-shirts for sale.

Arizona Trailblazers has volunteered to provide hike leaders to assist with the hiking portion of this event. Any experienced hike leader may volunteer to assist with the hikers. If you are interested in either leading or co-leading a hike, please contact @ 480-219-8535 or 480-567-2728 by 9/26/08. We will be doing a pre-hike at the end of September to familiarize ourselves with the trail.

Club members are also welcome to participate in the RIDE/WALK celebration as a walker or rider; cost to register is $20. You may register for the event at http://www.ajhorserescue.org/ or contact Jim Moyle, club President at 480-612-4068.

Subject: Help with a Hike

Hello,

I run Apache Junction Horse Rescue Corp. A 501 C 3 non-profit.

On October 18, 2008 I will be part of the National Horse Rescue RIDE/WALK celebration being held at the Goldfield Ghost town just East of Apache Junction.

I am looking for a few people that could volunteer to run the walk part of this event for us. I will be busy with the horse people and can not do both.

I am hoping to get over 100 walkers/hikers. Horses will ride out to the North West and the walkers will go out to the North East. This is a charity event.

Starting at the Mammoth Saloon, Horse & Riders will ride out to the Northwest while Hikers will go out to the Northeast.

Upon returning to the Mammoth Saloon, there will be:
•  food (pre-pay discount available)
•  live music by Lee Alexander
•  Silent auction
•  50/50 raffle
•  t-shirts

If you have any questions feel free to call me.
