AZT Passage 34 Day Hike

where Flagstaff, north of the SF Peaks
the hike     This hike follows the Arizona Trail Passage 34 south from the Snowbowl road crossing to the Sunset Trailhead on Schultz pass road. The hike traverses the lower slope of Mount Humprey’s and passes thru the ponderosa forest.
    The trail is a well maintained single track most of the way. It is mostly covered as we make our way through a forest of old growth Aspens and Ponderosa Pine; however, there are open areas.
Required:
•  Sturdy hiking boots
•  At least 3 liters of water
•  Rain poncho
•  Hat, sunblock, sunglasses
•  Lunch or snacks
Recommended:
•  Hiking poles
•  Camera

meet Phoenix 7:00 AM in the Mcdonald’s parking lot on the northeast corner of I-17 & Carefree Highway. Park away from the restaurant.
meet Flagstaff 9:00 AM in the the parking area of the Sunset Trailhead.
drive
•  Take I-17 north to Flagstaff.
The Schultz trailhead is reached by taking Hwy 180 North of Flagstaff for 2.6 miles and turning right on Schultz Pass Road. Continue until just after the pavement ends. Trailhead parking on left side of road. JUst before the gate.
We will carpool to the hike starting point which has limited parking and hike back to Sunset Trailhead.
