Green forests, a grassy alpine meadow, wildflowers, and remarkable views
await you on this late summer hike.
We’ll walk a round trip to the Dry Lake Hills from Sunset Trailhead
to visit a scenic overlook atop the Rocky Ridge.
Long ball hitters can then complete the Sunset-Brookbank Loop
counterclockwise on the Brookbank and Sunset Trails.

7:00 AM in the
Fry’s parking lot on the SW corner of I-17 & Bell Road. Park
behind Denny’s, near the entrance to the Deer Valley Park & Ride.

Take I-17 north to Flagstaff. |

Continue north on highway 180 past the Museum of
Northern Arizona to Schultz Pass Road.

Turn right and go east a half mile on Schultz Pass Road. |
• |
Turn left and go north on Schultz Pass Road, FR 420,
unpaved but usually graded. |
• |
Continue north 5 miles to Sunset Trailhead, where
there is a sign for the Sunset Trail. The hike begins here.
