the hike |
This is a relatively easy hike through the pine forests of the high country.
We start at the Fort Tuthill County Park and head south on the Highland Trail,
cross US 89A, and continue to just north of the Kachina Village community.
This hike is through rolling forested country. Our destination and turnaround
point is the Kachina Wetlands which was created by the Coconino County,
Arizona Game and Fish and NAU, using treated effluent.
We should see some birds and perhaps some other wildlife. If not, the hike is
nice by itself. On the way back, after crossing US 89A we will take an alternative
trail to form a loop.
