|when?||Trip Report : June 27, 2015|
This is an exploratory hike since the club nor this trip leader has ever done it.
However, the hike is entirely along the Arizona Trail Passage 31, Walnut Canyon,
and Passage 33, Flagstaff. We plan to start on the east end at the trailhead on
Old Walnut Canyon Road. This will be a car shuttle. The trail is mostly flat to
gently rolling except near Fisher Point where we have to drop down to Lake Mary
Valley and then climb back up on Passage 33 heading for I-40 in Flagstaff.
The trail passes through forest almost the whole way so it should offer some shade. We end at the Willow Bend Conservation Center on Sawmill Road just south of Butler Drive and west of the Butler/I-40 interchange.

|6:30 AM in the Fry’s parking lot on the SW corner of I-17 & Bell Road. Park behind Denny’s, near the entrance to the Deer Valley Park & Ride.|
Meet the trip leader in the parking lot of Sam’s Club in Flagstaff.
Exit I-40 at Butler Drive and turn left and left again at the first signal to stay
on Butler Drive. Turn left again on Babbitt Drive. True Value Hardware is on the
SW corner and Sam’s Club is on the SE corner. Park just south of the Taco Bell.
We will leave at least two cars at the west end at the Willow Bend Conservation Center and then caravan to the eastern trailhead by getting back on I-40 and going east to Walnut Canyon Road. There is about 2.5 miles of unpaved road to get to the trailhead. The road is passable by all vehicles. Note there is a MacDonalds on Butler before you get to Sam’s Club for those that have to stop there. There are restrooms in the Taco Bell and they serve breakfast. There are restrooms at the Willow Bend Conservation Center at the end of the hike.
