This is an out and back hike that is mostly the same hike as the Highline to Drew hike
with an additional part of hiking to Rim Road on the Drew Trail (TR 291).
The first part of the hike is from Two Sixty Trailhead on the Highline trail and is 4
miles of easy hiking until the junction with the Drew Trail.
Then it is a mile hike up the Drew Canyon Trail to the Rim, with an elevation gain of 800 feet. This part of the trail has some steep sections that may require hiking poles.
The Highline Trail (TR 31) provides 51 miles of spectacular views. The historic trail was established in the late 1800s to link various homesteads and ranches under the Mogollon Rim. It was designated a National Recreation Trail in 1979.
We will hike from Two Sixty Trailhead west to the junction with the Drew Trail, then up the Drew Trail to Rim Road and return by the same route.
For those not wanting the elevation gain and extra couple miles we can split into groups and the "C" hikers can turn around at the the junction of Highline and Drew for an 8 miles RT (4 miles in each direction) and +-400' elevation change.
