Unlike the Grand Canyon we go UP hill first then return down.
It is about 15 miles round trip and about 3800 feet. We hike an old road.
Start at about 3300 ft and hike to the towers at 7100 feet. No off trail.
This is a pretty hike and good for conditioning.
There was a fire in this area last year, but I have found no information stating it is not open for hiking now. It is a little late in season, so bring electrolytes and extra water to stash. Trim your toenails!
I remember the past two years it being very windy on top. Come prepared for a change in temperature from the trailhead.
*** For the upcoming Grand Canyon trip, this is close to the elevation and distance from Indian Garden to the top. The top at Grand Canyon is 6,900' and Mt. Ord is 7,100'. ***
