Trail Safety Day Hike

the hike	Multiple persons will lead this hike. This is part of Scottsdale trail safety day. The club will have a table at the trailhead that we will need a couple persons for. They will talk to persons, give out club stuff and have a fun time. We will stagger the hikes so persons at the table get to do a hike if they want.     The forecast is mild temperatures for the week (highs in the 80s) so it should be comfortable. The trails in this area are relatively new and in great shape. The elevation gain is minimal.     Cholla Mountain Loop     From the Browns Ranch Trail head at the Restroom buildings - Start north on Browns Ranch Rd 1 mile to Maverick Trail, then east 0.8 miles to Cholla Mountain Loop Trail, north on Cholla Mountain Loop trail 0.4 miles to Cathedral rock on west side of the trail for a look see. Then continue north on the loop trail as it then goes east and then south and then west 2.3 miles around Cholla Mountain to a sign to the Amphitheatre – take the 0.1 mile trail to the Amphitheatre for a snack break.     After our break go back 0.1 miles to the Cholla Mountain loop trail and head west 0.2 miles to the Maverick trail, go west on the Maverick trail 0.8 miles to the Brown’s Ranch road trail and then south on Brown’s Ranch Road trail 1 mile back to where we started at the Brown’s Ranch Trailhead.     There is almost no shade on any trail, so plenty of sun screen.

drive	•  Take the 101 loop to the Pima Road exit. • Go north on Pima Road. • Turn right and go east on Dynamite Road. • Turn left and go north on Alma School Parkway. • Brown’s Ranch Trailhead is straight ahead. Restrooms are available.
