the hike |
At 2,104 feet, North Mountain, and 2,149 feet, Shaw Butte, are easily recognizable
landmarks in the north valley skyline. The mountains offer a wide array of trail options for hikers of
all abilities and bolsters two of the best summit climbs in Phoenix. North Mountain has an elevation
gain of 525’ and Shaw Butte has a gain of 748’.. The plan will be to park at North Mountain. We will start with a quick hike to the top of North Mountain to warm us all up. Then on the way down, we will take trail 101 to cross the valley between North Mountain and Shaw Butte connect with trail 306 to hike up the south side of Shaw Butte and down the NE side of the Butte to do a loop of the mountain. We will connect back with trail 101 by taking trail 100 for a few feet to make our way back to our cars at North Mountain. In 2020 GPS had this hike as 7.5 miles. There are rest rooms by the Ramadas. Bring: • At least 2 liters of water • Hiking boots • Sunscreen • Camera |
