I’ve hiked Girdner Trail but not the Axis Trail. This will be an exploratory hike.
These trails lie at the northern edge of Sedona, west of Dry Creek. Some parts of
the trails are shaded with juniper groves. The hike is rating pleasant, because the
gorgeous views surrounding with some ups and downs. Not much elevation gain.
The surrounding view is simply gorgeous.

$5 per vehicle for a Red Rock Pass; however, if anyone in
the vehicle has a Senior Pass, that will work as well.
Sharing gas expenses with the driver.
The club also allows voluntary contributions of $5 per non-member. |

Take I-17 north and exit 287 toward AZ 260 westbound.

Continue on AZ 260 northwest to Cottonwood. |

Drive northeast on 89A for 14 miles to Cultural Park Place at the
stoplight and turn left. |

Continue driving for roughly 100 yards and watch for dirt parking
lots on both sides of the road. |

The Girdner Trailhead is located off the parking lot on your right.
Park and begin the hike from here at the large 3-panel trailhead sign. |

No restroom at the trailhead. |
Total drive time from I-17 & Bell Road to the
Girdner Trailhead is about 2.5 hours. Distance: 204 miles. |
