Black Canyon Trail is a 74.8-mile point to point trail located near Black Canyon City, Arizona.
This section of BCT begins at the Rock Springs exit #244 from I-17 towards Black Canyon
City. The trailhead is just 1.5 mi off I-17.
The trail leads us to a bend in the cool Aqua Fria River but we are not planning to cross it.
We will take the same trail down and back.
The North Mt. Visitor Center group, led by Dave French did this hike earlier this year. We will vary it slightly and go down to the water, where there is a shady spot to take a break and sit on large boulders by the water. This is a scenic hike, which is mostly downhill to the river and then back out. It’s not a steep climb and is rated easy. As usual, we’ll plan on a 4 mile or less, 2 hour hike to respect the heat and humidity. |
