the memorial     Mark was a member of the Arizona Trail Blazers, he died on March 6, 2025. He requested that persons wear colorful clothing to his memorial, black clothing is not allowed. No flowers, he requested donations can be directed to the Sedona Humane Society or FOTCOH (Friends of the Children of Haiti).
Many of you have known Mark and have hiked with him over the years. For those interesting in honoring Mark, his friendship and companionship, his love for Arizona and the great outdoors, and his many contributions to this hiking club over the years, including leading countless Sedona area hikes please donate to the above Organizations.

    Mark Purcell, age 67, of Sedona, AZ, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, due to a glioblastoma diagnosis in September 2024. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving family at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. Mark handled his diagnosis with acceptance, grace and peace.
    Mark was born on September 27, 1957, in Peoria, IL, and was the son of Robert Purcell and the late Deanna Purcell. Remaining to cherish Mark’s memory are his sisters and their families, Laurie (Lee) Kinsinger, Karen (Greg) Mortimer, Paula (Jim) Hanes and, his seven nieces and nephews and four great nieces-nephews. Preceding Mark in death was his mother, Deanna Purcell.
