If you aren’t camping the weekend of October 4-6,
this invigorating, one-day, Sedona Red Rock hike will:
1. |
Start from the Schnebly Hill Vista. |
2. |
Follow the old Munds cattle trail southbound across a
flat mesa to the remains of an old ranch. |
3. |
Dip into a ravine and join the Schnebly Hill Trail. |
4. |
Pass through a nice forested area and then along the rim
with great views of the Red Rock country.

5. |
Continue with a climb to the top of Munds Mountain. |
6. |
Return to the trailhead. |
Scenery should be spectacular!

7:00 AM in the
Fry’s parking lot on the SW corner of I-17 & Bell Road.
Park behind Denny’s, near the entrance to the Deer Valley Park & Ride.

1. |
Travel up I-17 to exit 320, Schnebly Hill Road. |
2. |
Exit from I-17 and turn left (west). |
3. |
Travel about 5 miles on unpaved road. This upper part of Schnebly Hill
Road is in good shape and passable by any car (nothing like the lower part).

Just before you get to the famous Sedona overlook, there is an unpaved
parking area on left (south) side of road. Park there.

There are no facilities. This trailhead isn't part of the official Red Rock
Recreation Area, so no fee is required.
