the hike |
Sterling Pass is one of best beautiful hikes to enjoy the most colorful of seasons.
From the trailhead the trail is up, with some switchbacks, to the pass. We will
descend to Sterling Canyon and continue to the right for 100 yards to a large rock
outcropping, which offers excellent views of the Vultee Arch.
We are not bushwhacking to the arch, just viewing the arch and surrounding
canyon. We’ll hike back the same way.
The trail is covered with mixed confer forest, dwarf maples and oaks, making
scarlet and peach colors in the fall.

Because the parking along the road is limited to 5-6 cars, I recommend all of you
arrange carpooling. I will camp overnight.
