The hike begins by going down the railroad tracks to get to a point
where we will cross the river which could be up to our waist, and then
traveling on a dirt road to the Coke Ovens.

$15 for a permit, good for a year. I am limiting this trip to 12
people/3 cars so please let me know ASAP and apply for your permit
well in advance through the link below.
Hikers have to apply for individual permits.

When car-pooling, pay your share the cost of gas. The club also
allows voluntary contributions of $5/non-member.

Home Depot in Mesa on the southeast corner of Power and US 60.

From Florence, go in 15.5 miles on the Florence-Kelvin Highway of which
3 miles is dirt road.

Go left on Cochran (by the boulders) and travel 12 miles on a
well-graded dirt road.

When you see the Coke ovens across the river, turn left down into a
big flat area.
|

I would prefer 4WD and/or high clearance vehicles. |
