The Crystal Springs Trail near the cool summit of Mount Lemmon is an enjoyable
walk through a diverse biological area with beautiful views.
This trail is like the Butterfly Trail that the club just did.
It is one of the few trails on the north side of Mt Lemmon.
The club has not done this hike, so it will be new experience.
We will do this hike as an in and out. Starting at the Upper Butterfly Trailhead (7700') we will take the Butterfly Trail down to its junction with Crystal Springs Trail (6600’) . There may be butterflies, but this trail does cross a lot of little streams that make for many waterfalls just above or just below the trail. This trail will take us through scenic canyons with great views to the north. The town of Oracle may be seen from time to time.
This trail is part of the Arizona Trail, the wildness bypass. We will stop eat our lunch when we get to the Control Road. Then, after lunch, head back up hill to our cars. This trail maybe overgrown, so this is a half bushwhack.
