Join park officials, hiking VIPs, and event sponsors to celebrate completion of
the Maricopa Trail, a 315-mile loop surrounding the valley. The schedule starts
at 10:00 and includes sponsor booths, dedications, unveiling of a Maricopa Trail
kiosk at the Overton Trailhead, and of course hiking.
Ceremonies start at 10:00 and attendance is expected to be high. We will therefore assemble at the Walmart at Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road at 9:00 and carpool into the park.
To provide variety from the recent Go John hike on October 8, this hike will include the Overton trail and be in the opposite direction. The initial plan is to hike 9 miles, but that may be shortened depending on time, crowds, or weather.
