| the hike |
We will drop cars off at the Vineyard Trailhead just north of the bridge at Roosevelt
Dam and then drive all the hikers south on SR 188 to FR 83 and turn right (west).
Drive about 3 miles on unpaved road, through 3 gates.
When the road gets too rough, park and walk the less than a mile to the AZT.
Hike mostly downhill through Cottonwood Canyon toward Roosevelt lake.
The trail may be steep and rocky for a portion of the way.
Eventually we’ll walk across the bridge to where we left the cars.
Passage 19 of the Arizona Trail is described on pages 158-164 of Arizona
National Scenic Trail by Matthew J. Nelson, Wilderness Press, 2014.
