We begin the hike at the Needles Vista parking lot, proceeding east to Hackberry Springs. The first mile or two was severely burned last summer, which has made the hiking easier as we can now hike on the benches on either side of the creek. At 1.5 mile we reach Hackberry Springs at the base of a basalt cliff. We will pause for a photo op and some exploration. The only shade is here at Hackberry Springs. Bring lots of water. There is very little shade. Required: • Sturdy hiking boots • At least 3 liters of water Recommended: • Hiking poles • Camera |
