Lost Goldmine Trail Day Hike

the hike     The Lost Goldmine Trail goes from its junction with Jacob’s Crosscut Trail to Lost Goldmine Trailhead, west of Peralta. Along the way you’ll enjoy gorgeous views of the mountains, the saguaro forest, the Wedding Cake, Turk’s Cap Hill, and the Superstition Ridgeline.
    This hike is described in Superstition Wilderness Trails West by Jack Carlson and Elizabeth Stewart, pages 207-208.
    Two options:
1. Round trip from Broadway Trailhead to the corner post. (short)
2. One way from Broadway Trailhead to Lost Goldmine Trailhead. (long)
    Your car will be waiting for you at the end of the hike at Lost Goldmine Trailhead.

The long hike will be led by Li Li.  Ted will lead the short hike.
meet 8:00 AM at Red Mountain Park located at 7745 E. Brown Rd. in Mesa (south side of Brown Road, east of Power Road).
Directions from the Red Mountain Freeway (Loop 202):
•  Exit 26 (Brown Road).
Go west on Brown a half mile to the light at Sterling Dr.
Turn left (south) at Sterling into the park. Then take the first left into the Palo Brea parking lot.

•  Take U.S. 60 (the Superstition Freeway) east.
Turn left on Peralta Road, just past Mile Marker 204.
Go 7 miles and look for the signed turnoff to the Lost Goldmine Trail on the left.
If you reach Peralta Trailhead, you’ve gone too far.
25 miles from Red Mountain Park to Lost Goldmine Trailhead (50 round trip).
