18 Trailblazers opted out of shopping on Black Friday and decided to walk off
the turkey hangover by meeting at the Picketpost Trailhead for a stroll around
the mountain.
As there was a large REI group with similar ideas, we kept our group together
and approached the trail counterclockwise as planned.
The hike began on the Arizona Trail with desert saguaro and mountain rocky
views. As we hit the backside of the mountain, the Arizona Trail route veered off
and we continued in and out of dry washes until we reached a nice open area
with water flowing a little, perfect for a mid-hike snack.

We ended the hike back in the open desert. Invigorated by our 9 mile jaunt
through desert beauty at its best, we returned to the Valley to continue the holiday
weekend.
