Many cows (not shown) around area. Temperature was warmer than expected. The road to the Lower White Canyon trailhead is still in relatively good condition, easily passable for any high clearance vehicle, and showing signs of recent heavy use. This year, the creek in White Canyon was totally dry.
After hiking to where White Canyon split, we went up the left fork, hoping to find an alternate, easier way to climb out of the canyon.
Unfortunately, we did not find it, and reversed our steps back to the same route we used last year. Once out of the canyon, we took a more northerly route around the ridges, reducing the number of ridge ascents from five to three.
The waterfall bypass in the return canyon seemed more difficult than the previous year. Next year Lin and I will be sure to bring a hand saw and clippers to clear out the catclaw on the bypass. The trail in this picture was very loose rock and dirt. This definitely an A+ hike.
