So, what’s the difference between a day hike and a nature photography expedition?   Purpose. You aren’t shooting on assignment for a magazine, you’re just having fun.   Time. A nature photographer can wait a long time for the perfect lighting or for the wildlife to be in position. Hikers have to move on.   Equipment. It’s impractical to carry a lot of fancy photographic equipment on day hikes.
