where South Mountain
the hike     Come join me to burn some calories. The National trailhead is at 1200 feet and the trail winds through the South Mountain park. We should be back at the cars before noon, doing a leisurely pace.
We will stop to eat the snack at Fat Man’s pass and return on the Hidden Valley Trail. The Hidden Valley Trail has the only shady spots in South Mountain. Hidden Valley is special, it has arches, trees, tunnels and many other unusual rock shapes. There is one couple of feet slide on rock to the valley floor.
From the top of the Mormon loop we will get a good view of Phoenix. This is a figure 8 hike so if you want you can exit at the 3 mile mark.
