the hike |
At 6 AM sharp we will leave from the parking lot. We will head up Chuckwalla Trail. At most
knolls on the trail there are trail splits. one goes over, one around; the elevation gain
difference is not significant but the rockiness and trail width is incrementally more
“Watch Your Step” worthy.
From Chuckwalla we’ll head out Sunrise Trail to the Sunrise Summit loop. You have the option of not doing the summit if you prefer. Returning from the loop we’ll head across Ridgeline and down to the Coachwhip Trail. Taking a left to go east we’ll skirt the top of the amphitheatre at the 59th Street parking area (there are restrooms and ramadas nearby to take a short break, if needed). Picking up Sunrise on the opposite side of the hill we’ll return to Chuckwalla or Coachwhip to return to our cars. See Map. Poles are optional. Sunscreen or a hat are a good idea. |
