This perfect morning started off with introductions and a fun question of what each
hiker’s favorite animal is. We gained some new faces and a few not seen for a
while. What an array of loved animals were mentioned!

We ventured the trail counterclockwise to ascend the steeper side, crossing a large wash.
In our wake an array of colorful wildflowers greeted us with colors so vibrant, they lead us
throughout the entire trail, spreading into the desert as far as the eye can see.

We stopped at the saddle for a snack and varied conversation.
The shade provided some relaxation prior to heading around the north side of the mountain
and towards the decent. The views of the Mazatzals and Superstitions were superb.
The Goldfields to our east were filled with radiating cliffs, jutting into the morning sky.
It is hard to find words for the scenery we engulf, surrounded by such extravagant cactuses,
plants, and nature’s gracious gifts. As we strolled through this spectacular desert
world, we continued around the mountain past Wind Cave Trailhead, and made our way
back to our cars.
After the hike, some of us gathered at Red, White and Brew for great food, brews and
conversation.

I am partial to this hike, as well as the surrounding land, for it is a place for me to go for
solitude and soothing thoughts. I am so blessed to have had eighteen hikers with me to
share in the beauty and adventure! Thanks to each and every one of you who joined me
for this hike!
