We will be exploring numerous short segment trails adjacent to the Western
Gateway, including the unique Canyon of Fools. At the time of this posting the
exact route and distance is subject to change, based on potential opening of
selected trails currently closed by the USFS.
All hike arrangements will begin at the trailhead in west Sedona. No carpools
will be formally organized. The parking area is expansive. Please note the
additional following restrictions incorporating both club and leader directives:

All participants will be screened as they arrive at the trailhead for symptoms typical
of COVID19.

Social distancing will be strictly enforced during the hike. |
C. |
There will be no post-hike meal scheduled. |

7:00 AM at the trailhead. Hike Leader will be present starting at 6:45 AM to execute
health checks. Due to elevated afternoon temperatures, an early start is necessary
to complete no later than the noon.

North on I-17 to Camp Verde, exit 287. |
• |
Northwest on AZ 260 to Cottonwood. |
• |
Right on AZ 89A at the intersection with AZ 260 from Cottonwood. |

Left on Dry Creek Road for 2.8 miles. |
• |
Left on Forest Road 9589B, 0.3 miles to trailhead. Not well-marked, but the
entrance is immediately across from a “Do Not Cross When Flooded”
road sign 150 feet before the intersection with Boynton Pass Road. |

The Forest Road is rough but passable for a passenger vehicle. |
