where Arizona Trail
the hike     When we did this last time, our route was complicated by all the water crossings. This time, we anticipate a drier and faster hike in the counter clockwise direction, which will wake us up with a good climb in the first few miles.
    An easy 9 mile loop that goes around the base of Picketpost Mountain with very little elevation change and starts out following the Arizona Trail. Great rock formations, and even though we will not be climbing Picketpost Mountain, we will still get great views of the Superstition Ridgeline, Weaver’s Needle, etc.
Note that if we get rain, the Alamo Canyon part of this hike can be wet.

meet 7:20 AM at Home Depot in Mesa on the southeast corner of Power and US 60.

drive
•  Take U.S. 60 (the Superstition Freeway) east to mile marker 221.
The road to Picketpost Trailhead is about 1/4 mile past mile 221 on the right side.
Go 0.4 miles to FR 231 and turn left, continuing 0.6 miles to the trailhead.
