March 6, 2022
by Chris Everett

This adventure started at the Basha’s in Maricopa, where Debbie, Terry, Michael and Chris met. We headed down the road were we met Ralph at Vekol Valley Road and I-8. We headed down this dirt roads that at time gets a little rough, when Michael had a blowout on his left front tire. Yes, we have pictures of him changing the tire.

We finally reached the trailhead, we all got ready and started down the trail. It starts out pretty mild. There was a lot of Saguaro trees there, and they were very healthy.

After a short hike we reached the sign in log, we signed in and we were amazed to find our names in the log where we hiked it two years ago. We reached the top of the foothill were the trail joins Table Top Mountain.

Stopped and took a short snack break. The small group started heading up the trail. It was much steeper than before, but a very nice trail, considering it being very remote trail.

The Trailblazers made it to the top, so we ate lunch and took a few pictures before heading to the other side of the Table Top. The trail on top stays close to the edge, so you get great views.

We reached the other side, only a few feet higher than the south side. We found a marker and Debbie took a picture of it to remember. It was a little windy at the top, so we headed back to the south side and down the trail. We saw a total of 5 people on this trail today. This was the first time I had ever seen anyone else on the trail.

You could finally see our vehicles at the trailhead. It came quickly, and for a fairly short hike it was a little tiring. We drove back to Ralph’s vehicle were he had parked it along the road. We took pictures of a couple signs at the Sonaran National Monument.

This Hike was 9.30 miles, with an elevation gain of +-2421'. It was a fun but very tiring hike.
