where Grand Canyon
the hike Exploratory
Grandview Trail is one of most of beautiful trails in the Grand Canyon National Park. It offers gorgeous and magnificent view of the inner canyon. It was built by miners in 1893. As you walk on the trail, you will be amazed by how tough those people were back then. This trail is not for the faint of heart since it is steep, rocky and exposed with wood cribs hugging the cliffside that leads down to an abandoned mine site at Horseshoe Mesa. The wood cribs have been upgraded by the forest service, the exposure is the same. The trail is only one person wide in some sections.
This is an exploratory hike since I have never done this hike before.
On Monday morning we will drive back home.

drive
•  Stay in William the night before and after. Take US 64 north into the park. Stay on US 64 as it goes east and stop at Grandview.
The Grandview Trail is located at Grandview Point, about a 15 minute drive east from the Grand Canyon Visitor Center (South Rim) on Desert View Drive (US 64). The trailhead at Grandview Point is at the scenic overlook; expect lots of tourists. But it's far enough away from the main South Rim attractions.
