| the hike | We’ll hike this old jeep road which soon becomes just a trail. The trail initially follows Gold Creek then heads southwesterly. Our goal is to hike to the intersection of FR 201, and if there’s time we can reach the mine. The hike is exploratory after the first two miles. |

| meet | 7:00 AM in the parking lot of the Target Center on the south side of Shea Blvd., about a mile west of Highway 87 (Beeline). For those leaving their cars behind, please park up against the north curb away from Target. |

• Take the Beeline Highway (AZ 87) north to AZ 188. • Turn around and head south to about milepost 233 and the unmarked exit to FR 177 (nicely graded as of October 20: no need for high clearance). • Drive south about one mile to the trailhead (FR 191). • The exit is just before the power lines cross the road for the second time, well before the exit labeled “Cane Springs”. |
