Meadow Trail Loop Day Hike

where Sitgreaves National Forest
the hike     Beat the heat! Enjoy a cool walk in the woods and along the edge of the Mogollon Rim. The Rim Lakes Vista Trail has many outstanding overlooks. The Meadow Trail parallels a road until we turn east on the General Crook Trail and leave all signs of civilization.
The General Crook Trail is marked with chevrons tacked to trees – yellow near Rim Top Trailhead where it follows the historical route, and white where the hiking trail has been rerouted. The trail is distinct in a few places. But mostly it is a walk in the woods with chevrons to guide you. In places where you can’t see the next marked tree, just keep going in the same general direction and eventually you’ll see one. Some of the marked trees have fallen down.
