Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and Brown Mountain

the hike     Our first stop will be the iconic Museum, which is a world-renowned zoo, natural history museum, and botanical garden all in one place. Total hiking distance on the grounds is 2 miles, and you will not forget the recently resumed Raptor Free Flight. Please refer the following link for more information, including admission fees:

    From the Museum we will caravan just a couple miles down to the road to the Brown Mountain Trailhead to access its 4.7 mile trail, which is well maintained with magnificent views.

meet 6:45 AM in the parking lot south of Einstein Bros. Bagels on the SE corner of 48th Street & Ray Road, west of I-10. For those leaving their cars behind, please park up against the west curb of the parking lot, not in the Einstein’s common parking area. Carpooling is preferred, as parking is crowded and/or limited at both trailheads.

•  76 miles I-10 to exit 236 towards Marana Road.
Turn right on N Sandario Road.
1.0 mile to W Grier Road—turn right.
1.0 mile to N. Sanders Road—turn left.
3.5 miles to W. Avra Valley Road—turn left.
1.0 mile to N Sandario Road—turn right
11 miles to W. Mile Wide Road—turn left.
3.2 miles (W. Mile Wide Road>N Kinney Road) to the museum road sign.
After leaving the Museum we will caravan to Brown which also has facilities.
