Big Jim Day Hike

the hike     This hike is for the extreme hikers, especially those that may be trying to prepare for the Superstition Ridgeline hike. It is somewhat exploratory for us. We start on the Little Jim Trail (we have to compliment April for introducing us to the Little Jim). At about 2.5 miles we hit the Walkin’ Jim trail and take that another 1.5 miles to the intersection with the Big Jim. From here we will ascend Pike’s Peak. We have been one mile up from this point. Beyond that is exploratory.
Here is a link to a description of the hike on hikearizona.com.
The hike is showing almost 12 miles round trip. It will be a long day. Come prepared. We will make decisions as we go along about how far we want to go. We did a side trip, bushwhacking up to a saddle along the way, where the views were awesome. From the top of Pike’s Peak you can see all of central Arizona.
