This will be a leisurely and enjoyable nature hike through the riparian park as we find and
identify numerous birds and other offerings found at this park such as mammals, fish and
various plants.
Bring a pair of binoculars, a pen, a hat, and if you wish, a camera.
Veterans Oasis Park is comprised of 113 acres, 78 of which are designed for groundwater
recharge and wetlands and serve as habitat for diverse Sonoran Desert plants and wildlife
and has numerous walking trails. There is also a 5 acre fishing lake. Veterans Oasis Park
is considered one of the premier birding spots in the valley with recharge basins, riparian
environments and an abundance of native vegetation and draws a variety of migratory
and local birds to the park. Over 153 species have been documented at the park. A free
birding checklist can be picked up inside the Environmental Education Center before the
hike begins if you wish to keep track of what you spot.

8:30 AM Veterans Oasis Park in Chandler, east side parking lot. Restrooms are available
at the Environmental Education Center. Free parking.

Northeast corner of Chandler Heights Rd and Lindsay Rd, 4050 E. Chandler Heights Rd.,

There are two main buildings at this park, a police substation and the environmental
education center, we will meet in the parking lot directly east of these two buildings.

For those driving east on I-10, take the E. Riggs Rd. exit to the left and continue east
and turn left on Lindsay Road continuing north to Chandler Heights Road.
The park is on the northeast corner of this intersection.

For those traveling on the Loop 202, take the S. Gilbert Rd. exit and travel south to
Chandler Heights Road turn left (east) and continue until to Lindsay Road, the park is
on the northeast corner.
