Tucked between Cave Creek Regional Park and a horsey suburban neighborhood,
Go John Canyon is full of history and beauty. Mare Czinar described this area in an
article for the Arizona Republic in January, 2018.
Enjoy a scenic stroll through the sometimes colorful gorge of Cave Creek, while
Black Mountain looms to the east. The level trails are well groomed, but there will
be a climb, so we will definitely get to stretch our legs. Along the way we’ll
stop to take photos of a “Michelin Man” cactus just off trail.
Our trip starts out on C-4 to Slate Trail. Follow Slate to Jasper. Then Go John to
Quartz to Flat Rock then Military back to C-4. We will provide maps, but it’s
fairly easy since it’s signed well.
