The Pemberton Trail in McDowell Mountain Regional Park
is part of the Maricopa trail, with the length of 15.3 miles.
We will hike a beautiful section of Pemberton Trail for 1.4 miles.
To access to this section we will do clockwise loop:
Rock Knob-Pemberton-Marcus Landslide.
All these trails have unusual rock formations for interesting photography, Sonoran
Desert landscaping, and scenic views of Four Peaks, Weaver’s Needle and
the Superstition Mountains.

Take Loop 101 to exit 36, Pima-Princess Dr. |
| • |
Turn north on Pima Rd and go 4.5 miles to Happy Valley Rd. |

Turn right (east) onto Happy Valley Road. |
| • |
Continue on Happy Valley Rd until it turns into 118th St. |
| • |
Look for 2 square brown signs “Tom’s Thumb Trailhead”.
The second sign has an arrow pointing to the right.

Turn right on Ranch Gate Rd.. |

Drive about a mile to where the road dead ends at 128th St. |

Turn right onto 128th Street. |
| • |
At the traffic circle, continue straight to the parking lot. |
