| the hike |
You have probably been to South Mountain Park, but most likely you have
not yet been to the still relatively unknown portion of the park on the
far southwest corner (Ahwatukee side) currently called “620 Park.”
There are several nice trails in this area. We will take the Pyramid trail,
which switchbacks up a ridge line and connects with the National Trail.
Then we will traverse about 2 miles of the National Trail before heading back
down on the Lost Mine Trail. There are a few old mine shafts in this area,
which we can peek at from a safe distance, and in the not too far distance
in the valley the ruins of some sort of unknown structure are visible
(possibly a mining camp, or ranch, or who knows?).
Maybe you can come help us solve the mystery!
