| the hike |
Come join us on a sunset hike of an urban treasure. Not far from the
concrete and glass of downtown Phoenix, an oasis of riparian life awaits us
on the Rio Salado. The City of Phoenix lovingly restored the riverbed to its
former glory of plant, animal and water life and now 14 miles of trails are
there to explore.
We will start at one of the many trailheads and explore the dirt paths that go for 3.2 miles one way and 3.9 miles in the other, spanning from 19 th Avenue to 28th Street. We may take a little break to visit the Audubon Nature Center along the way. This will be an easier Trailblazer hike, but we will cover 3 miles and visit a place that is under our noses, but that we haven’t yet explored as a group. We will go west first, go 1½ miles and then loop around. For more information see Mare Czinar’s description. |
