Sidewinder-Ocotillo Loop Day Hike


when? Trip Report : January 4, 2014
where? Phoenix Sonoran Preserve
the hike     We will explore new trails just recently opened in the northern section of the Phoenix Sonoran Preserve. This loop combines three segments from:
• Sidewinder Trail is the longest trail, about 7.20 miles in the northern section of Phoenix Sonoran Preserve, and goes over the highest hill.
• Ocotillo Trail 6.3 miles winds around cities, Skip Rimaza West Paseo, Dove Valley Road.
• Ridgeback Trail, 1.2 miles, connects Sidewinder and Ocotillo Trails.
There are two options:
1. Loop Sidewinder-Ridgeback-Ocotillo, 5 miles with Wendy Rennert.
2. Loop Sidewinder-Ocotillo, 8 miles with Quy Nguyen.

    This loop with its many ups and downs and will raise your heart rate to help strengthen the heart, strengthen the legs and burn calories. It also provides good views of the hills, mountains, cities, and Sonoran Desert.
Required:
•  Sturdy hiking boots
•  At least 3 liters of water
•  Rain poncho
•  Hat, sunblock, sunglasses
Recommended:
•  Lunch or snacks
•  Camera
•  Your smiles  :)

You will need to car-pool with others who are hiking the same option.
