| the hike |
Hiking along lakeshores in Arizona is always a treat, and this hike is one of the best.
Start at Pipeline Canyon Trailhead and hike two miles to the junction of the Yavapai Point and Cottonwood Trails. From there we’ll hike 1.5 miles to the end of the Yavapai Point Trail and enjoy the most spectacular lake view of the day. Finally we’ll return to the Pipeline Canyon, Yavapai Point and Cottonwood junction, take the Cottonwood trail 1.2 miles to its termination, and then return to the trailhead via the Cottonwood and Pipeline Canyon Trails. These trails have many small ups and downs, cactus that exceed 30 feet in height, and excellent views of the lake and canyon. The Pipeline Canyon trail includes a floating bridge that spans Pipeline Cove. Click here for a map of the area. Required: • Sturdy hiking boots • At least 3 liters of water • Hat, sunblock, sunglasses Recommended: • Lunch or snacks • Camera |
