| the drive |
We drive Elephant Butte Road north of Queen Valley, and North end of Millsite Canyon trail, near Woodbury trailhead
These will be exploratory jeeping trips. Drivers of vehicles must have a 4x4 high clearance vehicle, such as a Jeep Wrangler, Gladiatior, FJ Cruiser, Bronco, etc. A larger vehicles like a Toyota 4 Runner or pickup truck MIGHT be OK. Basic 4x4 off-roading skills are required, including deflating, reinflating tire pressure, and using an air compressor. We will be driving jeep trails as far as we feel comfortable – no rock crawling or anything crazy. This 4x4 trip is meant to help us prepare for a club trip to White Pocket in northern AZ, next year. Ideally, we can have up to four vehicles. Each vehicle will carry up to a max of four passengers. If the temperature is reasonable, we might do some hiking. We will be crossing through some State Land Trust property. In theory, anyone on state land is required to purchase a permit. Richard and I have our own annual permits, but others may wish to purchase one. We also have the option of purchasing a group permit for $17, good for up to 19 people for five days. State Land Permits ( State web site ) Required: • Sturdy hiking boots • Bring a cooler with plenty of water. Recommended: • Camera |
