where	Superstition Mountains
the hike	Let’s start out December with a BANG near the valley!     The hike to the top of Flatiron is difficult, but very fun for people in good shape with a desire for adventure. There is some boulder-hopping to get to the top and a 10-foot cliff climb. The last mile has 2,000 feet of elevation gain, so it is slow on both the up and down. The view from the top is spectacular. You can see a 360 degree range of the valley We will have snacks/lunch on Flatiron. Then continue up the mountain a little ways and see the plaque from the plane crash of a few years back. We can “frollick,” per-say, on the top of the mountain if anyone is game for a little more mileage. This is a great conditioning hike to maintain what we have worked for all this year!     The parking area at Siphon Draw has water and restrooms. If requested, we can have a cold brew and/or food at Goldfield after the hike. The view of the sun here on the Superstitions can be amazing. We can see the Flatiron, of which we huffed and puffed to conquer prior. Bring: •  SMILES! •  At least 3 liters of water •  Hiking boots •  Hiking poles (if you so-choose) •  High-protein/energy snacks to last the entire hike •  Sunscreen •  Camera

meet	8:00 AM at Home Depot in Mesa on the southeast corner of Power and US 60.
drive	•  Go east on US 60 to Idaho Road. • Turn left and go north on Idaho Road. • Turn right and go northeast on the Apache Trail Highway (AZ 88). • At the road to Lost Dutchman Park, turn right and pay $7 per car. • Continue to Siphon Draw Trailhead and park.
