where Superstition Wilderness
the hike     Picture postcard scenery abounds on this gentle trail walk through saguaro forest from Crosscut Trailhead. Swing by the top of Lost Dutchman State Park. Which trails we take will depend on the flowers. According to the flower people we need 5 days of sun for the flowers to come out. It is prodicted that it will be sunny for the whole week before this hike. There are many different kinds of wild flowers, so we will just see which ones are are out and which trails they are on.
Bring your camara, this is one of the rare super blooms and Lost Dutchman is one of the top 5 sites.
This hike is described on pages 209-210 of Roger and Ethel Freeman’s Day Hikes and Trail Rides in and around Phoenix (Gem Guides Book Company, 2000).
