This is a good exercise hike from Apache Wash Trailhead and a great way to start the
day. 12 of us started out at 8:30 AM. Gretchen caught up with us quickly.
It was rather cool when we started, but we knew once we got moving it would
warm up. Most of us did this as an 8.1 mile hike, though Joe and Jeanne opted to
take the cutoff for the shorter version of 6.2 miles.

What the trail lacks in elevation, it made up for with the verdant trees, flowers and
heavy bushes.

Although the hike is near major roads, due to the various washes and heavy
trees one can’t see the cars and only rarely hear them.
It is really nice to see Phoenix so green.

The trails are well marked, which allowed the faster group to charge
ahead, always waiting at intersection

There is a well-marked cutoff for those wishing to do the shorter hike.
