When I scouted this hike, I started before dawn and went counterclockwise. Today I had the Trailblazers with me and we went clockwise. Michelle, Christopher, Nora, Natalie, Laura, and Jessica went with me on the Idaho-Wolverine Loop. Quy, Karen, Kelley, Julie, and Tish went with Jeannie Debolt to Bulldog Canyon.

We started on the Deer Tanks Trail, hiked the narrows of Idaho Canyon, climbed up to Idaho Pass where there is a great picture spot, turned east on Forest Road 10, then south and west on the Wolverine Pass Trail. The trail is hard to find near the power line, but I found it.

Just as we were leaving FR 10, the Bulldog Canyon hikers joined us. They had been on a grand adventure!

When I got home, the garage door wouldn’t open. So I tried to open it manually from the inside. The rope broke. A fellow is coming next Wednesday to install new parts.

Special thanks to Jeannie Debolt for leading the Bulldog Canyon portion of the hike!

Supplemental Report
by Quy Nguyen

After getting the map and instruction from Ted, the group of five follows Jeannie for the long adventurous hike. All of us are very confident with the guide from Jeannie, who knows the trails around Bulldog Canyon. The rocky trail consists some ups and downs, with desert scenery surrounding. Sometimes we have to walk in the wash.

We relaxed on this hike, taking a break after climbing up the hill, talked each other as close friends. The trail is not heavy trafficked. We encountered no one. I don’t know which is Peak 3134 ridgeline. Just taking pictures of the mountains surrounding us. Perhaps Ted will know when he looks at my photos. After hiking down Wolveine Pass, we saw one hawk flying up from the ground with a snake dangling from its talons. It happened too fast that I couldn’t take a picture. But I did take a picture of a hawk in a saguaro arm.

After carefully footing on FR 10, we met Ted’s group. All of us are so happy to join as big group. We hiked back to trailhead with our own pace.

Nice weather, beautiful hike, great company: I couldn’t ask for more.

Happy Trails!

from Jeannie DeBolt:

Thank you, Ted, for organizing this hike. It’s one I’ve always enjoyed as there is so much scenery and trail variations. Hope to see all of you again.

I did notice the Mask Arch is now a single arch. One must have collapsed. We also saw a red tail hawk flying with a snake dangling from his talons.

Happy Trails!

From Kelley Howard:

Thank you, Ted and Jeanie, and fellow hikers for a beautiful morning! I’m really grateful to have found this group. Thank you, photographers, for sharing your gems.

Happy Thanksgiving! Stay well. :)
