On a cloudy, cooler but humid morning, 6 hikers arrived at the East Trailhead for a
4 mile hike that took in several trails. Our elevation gain today was 406' and offered
nice views of the surrounding area, and east toward the cloud-shrouded McDowells.

At the end of the hike we took a short walk up the paved “Water Tower”
road to the water retention tank that in no way resembles a tower.
We were happy to include Yoni, a visiting hiker here for two weeks who wanted to get
out and stretch his legs. Yoni was excited to see his first Arizona Roadrunner.

At this point, the clouds parted and the temperature went up, so we went down to the cars.
