Neil Dennis led this hike in the beautiful McDowell Sonoran Preserve on a gorgeous, cooler
than normal day.
Nine hikers including five AZHC members met at 6:00 AM at the trailhead. We were very
happy to meet a vacationing couple from Boston who found our hike online and contacted
our leader to sign up. They were impressed with the area and were a delightful addition to
our happy, friendly group.

We’re off, heading toward Thompson Peak.

Andre and Nadia are having a good time.

We’re climbing.

The trail is well maintained.

Billie explains everything.

The desert has sprung to life after the Monsoon rains this season. The Saguaro, Ocotillo
and Cholla are all healthy looking and the whole area is lush green.

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, stay right there.

Admiring the view.

Thriving Sonoran vegetation.

Ouch!
We hiked a loop including the Lost Dog, Old Jeep, Ringtail and Sunrise trails. Temps were
in the 70s with humidity and a slight breeze much of the time.
Thanks, Bill, for documenting all this in photos!
